China's First Manufacturing of Large Size Anisotropic Infrared Glass

Infrared materials are the precursor and symbol of the development of infrared technology, and their performance directly determines the accuracy and performance of infrared equipment. Infrared technology has expanded from simple military applications to multiple fields such as security monitoring, remote sensing detection, and assisted driving. The preparation technology of large-sized irregular infrared glass is considered one of the cutting-edge technologies in the infrared field. However, difficulties in hydroxyl removal, poor glass forming ability, and difficulty in forming large-sized and irregular products have hindered the development and equipment of some new common aperture photoelectric detection systems in China.

China National Institute of Building Materials has developed a new product of large-sized irregular infrared glass and successfully applied it to a new type of common aperture photoelectric detection system. This is the first time China has manufactured large-sized irregular infrared glass, filling a gap in China.
